Vermicomposting is great way to compost if you have limited outdoor space or live in an apartment or condominium. Vermicomposting uses earthworms, usually red wigglers, to turn organic waste into high quality compost consisting of worm castings, uneaten bedding, and feedstock harvested from worm beds.
You can make your own Vermicomposting kit with the following list of supplies and tools or purchase a kit from a retailer:
|Yes (yummy)||No (yuck)|
|Anything Green (especially the leafy stuff)||Citrus (no orange, lemon, or lime)|
|Fruits||Fats, Oils & Salad Dressings|
|Vegetables||Breads & Cereals|
|Coffee Grounds & Filters||Salts (no seasoned food)|
|Black & White Newspaper||Sugars (no processed food)|
|Eggshells (crushed)||Garlic & Onions|
